starting something new is hard.
But what’s harder is never having started and next thing you know a year has gone by and you didn’t do that thing you said you would do. That’s me. Every single year, I say I will start a blog or a newsletter and every year I get so caught up in the logistics and the self doubt that I end up not following through.
So here we are. Another new year, but this time an honest attempt to making it happen.
There is not reason to say that this year will be different than last year. However, I am finding that as the years go on I have more and more to say and no real place to express it. There is only so much talking people can handle until they scream “OK enough, I get it — you’ve really thought about this (read: over-thought) and you want to have a 3 hour discussion on it but quite frankly I just want to sleep.”
Maybe that’s exaggerated, but at the same time I don’t think it’s too far off.
That all being said — I have a lot to say and I don’t mind talking to the void.
So hello void, I’m Carole and welcome to Top of Mind.
you, me and this community?
Right now, it’s just me — maybe you if you’re reading this. But really no community…yet.
Maybe that’ll change over time and that would be great. It’s one of the things I actually love about the internet — if you are looking for a community there will likely be one for you. You just have to make the effort.
I won’t define what this community will look like — I think the work will speak for itself. Quite honestly, to ask me to define the community would actually put us all in a box and if there is anything this community is, it’s not that — a box I mean.
So scratch your head all you want trying to fit us (community) into a neat category, I guarantee we will unintentionally step outside of that category.
expectations for you type As
I expect two things only.
An open mind and an engaged heart.
How you interpret this is up to you.
you still here?!
Clearly you enjoy stream of conscious rambles with questionable sentence structure. This is fine by me because it’s mainly how I am and I won’t even have to include a disclaimer.
So if you’re up for it, why don’t you give it a little ‘Subscribe’ to stay in the know. Still a little trigger shy? No worries — these ‘Subscribe’ buttons will always pop up like a meerkat checking for predators.
Let’s get started we have a lot of ground to cover…
